Family Tree Maker: Getting Started

Note 1: There's a possibility this class will be moved to Saturday, March 25, 10:00 - 12:30 pm, subject to the availability of the instructor.
Note 2: This class is offered as both a one-time seminar and as one session in a series of monthly classes, which we call the "Genealogy Club." Clubs meet on the 3rd Tuesday (10:00 am - 12:30 pm) every month through November.
$25 for one session seminar, or
$70 for the Genealogy Club, which meets every month through November.

Students should have basic computer skills that include the following: keyboard familiarity, use of the mouse (both left and right-click buttons), and Windows 7 or newer navigation/software application interactions. Also, a general understanding of genealogy, including an understanding of terms such as "facts," "sources," and "media."
This class is focused on introducing the student to the Family Tree Maker 2014 software, which is one of the most popular genealogy tracking software programs. The class will provide an understanding of the various screens, views, panels, and how to navigate between them. It will include instruction on how one might start a new family tree file in the software. Students will be encouraged to follow and click-along with the instructor. Data entry will be covered in a subsequent class.
