This is a hands-on type of class. It is for students who are looking for a basic to intermediate introduction on Google Docs and is recommended for students who understand the basics of editing Word documents in Microsoft Office or Apple's Text Editor. Students should have access to a Gmail account in order to fully participate, but are welcome to follow along without one.
Google Docs are the newest form of collaborative document and can be accessed at any place and anytime, as long as you're online. As a software of the future, using Google Docs allows you to work alone or with multiple people at once. Because it's in the cloud, you don't have to worry about taking up computer memory or losing important documents if your computer crashes!
This is a class for beginner. We’ll cover how to create, share, and edit documents. If time permits, we'll also learn intermediate skills such as inserting photos, charts, and tables.
The seminar goals are as follows:
- Learn how to create a Google Doc and how to access it again
- Share Google Docs through emails and links (with differing degrees of editing priviledges for recipients)
- Learn how to edit Google Doc text for font, size, color, formatting, and effects
- Review both the benefits of using Google Docs and the daily uses for Google Docs
