Description:

Digital photos are great. Even if you see them every day on your phone or your computer, there's just something awesome about holding prints in your hand or hanging them on your wall. You can do this at home with a printer, have a service print them out and mail them to you, or print them at a local business that offers photo-printing services.

A great question is why do you frame your photographs? I think part of it is that you place a greater intrinsic value on your work by placing it in a frame. I also think anybody sees a framed work immediately takes it more seriously. The whole phrase, "Suitable for Framing," carries great weight and I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to see a photograph of mine hanging on the wall knowing that not only did I create the photograph, but I matted it, assembled the frame, put the whole package together with glazing, used the proper hardware, and hung it in an aesthetically pleasing way.

In this class I will share with you the tools to get to that delightful moment of recognition when you see your work presented that way. Most of my "keepers" are printed 13" x 19" or larger on an old Epson 3800, matted, and framed, or placed in a clear sleeve in an archival folder to be rotated into my "gallery" later.

In this class, we'll work with 8" x 10" or 11" x 14" prints. Materials for matting, hinging, and framing will be available. You'll leave the class with at least one "suitable for framing" photo in a frame. You bring the photo, we'll walk through the process of matting and framing it. You'll need to bring one or two prints of 8" x 10" or 11" x 14" and some money to purchase frame(s). We'll supply the mat materials and the hinge tape.
